An interesting lesson at Hanoi Law University
It is an enviroment law lesson which I attended in my university. I really like it because it's so funny, fresh and real.
During our lessons, we learn about assessing environment effection. At the seminar, we discuss it together. The teacher gives us a stituation. I'll sum up the important points.
- Ministry of Construction (MoC) started a project in an apartment building before the Vietnam Environment Administration (VEA) assessed the environmental impact of the project.
- 2015: The investor sells the apartment to citizens.
- 2018: VEA announces a environment news. VEA says that the area the apartment building was built is polluted because of an old chemical factory that used to be there. The foundation of the building broken.
- The residents developed some serious health problems. Five people have heart disorders and three people died because of cancer.

Stituation for 6 teams and secret informations for MoC
We were divided into six teams for the lesson. Each team represents one organization and takes part in a discussion. We debate each other and protect the organization that we represent. The six organization are: the citizens, MoC, VEA, the investors of the apartment building, the old investors of the chemical factory and the People's Commitee of the province.
Difference of six team's opinion. We are trying to protect our organizations.
I'm one of the two MoC representatives. And of course, I'm supposed to protect the MoC's interests even I know some of their decisions were wrong. In this situation, all of the organizations were wrong, not just the MoC. For example, the investor of the apartment bulding made an inaccurate report about the area's environment. The VEA announced the enviroment research late. But, at the end of the discussion, the citizens were at a disadvantage. I think the same in real life, for many reasons. One of the reasons is legal status!
Too hard to find one organization take responsibilitis
We discussed ebulliently, enthusiastically and passionately during two sessions. The seminar was really good. I hope we will have more lessons like that! Thank Ms.Trang! Thank you for teaching us so much and giving us a good time.
